One of Australia’s largest e-commerce groups has unleashed an Australian first set to give traditional retailers a run for their money.
AussieCommerce, parent company of sites such as brandsExclusive and Cudo, has confirmed the launch of its latest flash sales website, dedicated to activewear and sportswear.
TheActive is Australia’s first flash sales website dedicated to premium branded active apparel and equipment and aims to provide customers with up to 80 percent off the retail price.
Touted by AussieCommerce as “a great alternative to expensive bricks and mortar retailers for active Australians”, TheActive product offering is largely skewed towards big name international brands including Nike, Go-Pro, BodyScience, Etnies, Electric Yoga and Netti Cycling.
Categories catered for on the site include: sports and fitness, surf, skateboarding, cycling, snow and outdoor, with a wide range of men’s and women’s apparel, shoes and equipment.

It’s a market that’s very well serviced abroad, and the only available options in Australia are expensive bricks and mortar retailers. Commenting on the launch of TheActive, AussieCommerce managing director Adam Schwab said the site will cater to a gap in the local market.

TheActive team are based in AussieCommerce’s Sydney headquarters, and are led by CEO Dean Clyke, who has extensive experience in the online retail industry.

The company has shown significant growth since commencement of operation from $10 million turnover in 2011, to $24 million in 2012, to $43 million in 2013.
AussieCommerce Group has confirmed that it is expecting a turnover of $160 million for FY14.
