Afterpay Australian Fashion Week 2023 (AAFW) will spotlight 11 First Nations designers, including the first solo runway show for womenswear label Ngali. 

The David Jones Indigenous Fashion Projects Runway will feature labels such as Gali Swimwear, Gammin Threads, Ihraa Swim, Joseph & James, Kamara, Lazy Girl Lingerie, and Miimi and Jiinda.

We Wear Australian will present the AAFW’s closing night show, featuring Aarli and MAARA Collective, while the Next Gen runway will spotlight Liandra Swim. 

The week-long event will feature 46 shows and presentations at Carriageworks, Sydney between May 15 to 19.

IMG fashion events and properties APAC MD Natalie Xenita said the schedule will feature a number of established and emerging designers. 

“IMG is proud to support Australian designers and creatives, no matter what stage of their career journey they are at."

Alemais, Aje, Anna Quan, Bianca Spender, Bondi Born, Caroline Reznik, Christian Kimber, Haulier, Henne, Mariam Seddiq, Nicol & Ford, Sarah & Sebastian, St. Agni, Verner and Yousef Akbar will also feature on the schedule. 

The event will host a number of international buyers from Browns, Le Bon Marche, Net-a-Porter, Nordstrom and Moda Operandi.
