At approximately 2.15am this morning a factory fire broke out in commercial units on Beaconsfield St, Alexandria Sydney.

Pictures from the scene show the General Pants head office extremely close to the blaze, however it is has not been officially confirmed whether or not the fire has damaged any of the business' assets.

According to Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW), about 100 firefighters were called to the scene to extinguish the blaze which had spread to adjoining units.

Working from 25 fire trucks and special appliances the crew worked through the early hours of the morning, with FRNSW posting to Facebook a short time ago: "Just after 2am firefighters from across Sydney responded to a factory on fire in Beaconsfield. The fire is now being contained and extinguished."

General Pants has made no official comment to the media or public, however its website hosts a banner which reads: "We’ve had an interruption to our normal service of getting your wears to you the very next day. Hang tight while we work through this and we’ll update you as soon as possible. Our team are on hand to answer in any questions you have in the meantime."
