Sass & Bide, Fernando Frisoni and Tigerlily are among the labels that have thrown their support behind a local government initiative with an environmental focus.
Garage Sale Trail will be held on Sunday April 10 and is designed to encourage individuals to host garage sales in their local area. Powered by 27 local councils, organisers hope the national event will promote sustainability and community.
Fashion designers are among those who have signed on to participate in and promote the event, with Sass & Bide senior creative and accessories designer Pip Edwards to host a garage sale in her native Bondi (NSW).
Also hosting a garage sale will be Tigerlily swimwear designer Amelia Stanley and Krystel Davis of up-and-coming young womenswear brand Uscari.
Designer Fernando Frisoni is also participating while retail property firm Stockland is an event partner.
Garage Sale Trail director Darryl Nicholls said the second annual event was designed to promote sustainability, community and culture “in a way that's fun and inclusive”.
“We're also giving people the opportunity to use the event as a way to raise a little money and are encouraging everyone to donate 10 per cent of their takings from the day to Keep Australia Beautiful,” Nicholls said.
Fashion businesses keen to host garage sales can register here. Consumers will be able to view all registered sale sites via a specially designed Vodafone compass app.
