The Whitehouse Institute of Design will host a new kind of fashion media seminar this month, aimed at aspiring fashion publicists, journalists, stylists and bloggers.

The first ever Prospect 360 Fashion Media Seminar will be held on May 23 at the Whitehouse Institute of Design in Surry Hills and will see a raft of fashion industry mavens share their knowledge for the day.

Panel members include:

  • The Publicist – MCMPR director Marie-Claude Mallat who heads the boutique fashion public relations agency and has represented leading Australian, international and digital brands including Zimmermann, Arabella Ramsay, Yeojin Bae, and Magdalena Velevska.

  • The Journalist – Paula Joye, who has has worked in women’s magazines for over 15 years, including as the editor of Cleo magazine. Joye also created and launched both Shop Til You Drop and Madison magazines. In 2011 she launched www.lifestyled.com.au, which is now one of Australia’s most popular style sites.

  • The Stylist – Stonefox Magazine fashion director Nadene Duncan, who also works as a freelance stylist and consultant with DLM, Australia's elite agency in the representation of top styling talent. She has also styled for Shop Til You Drop magazine, SummerWinter Magazine, Red Zero Magazine, and Dolly magazine.

  • The Blogger – Romy Frydman, founder of one of Australia’s most frequented fashion blogs, Style Me Rom. Frydman has previously worked at Marie Claire, and Elle magazine, and is now also a contributing fashion editor for Vogue Australia.

Former Melbourne editor of Vogue Australia and current fashion ambassador for the Westfield Group, Anthea O’Connor, will act as a moderator for the seminar which will comprise two informative and interactive 45-minute panel sessions.

Both sessions will be geared towards inspiring participants while helping them uncover ways to get a 'foot-in-the-door' of the fashion media industry, with a Q&A session included as well as a section on how best to apply for work.

The concept for the Prospect 360 series of seminars was created in 2007 by South Melbourne-based media guru Greta Donaldson who has liaised with media on a daily basis for the past 20 years. Donaldson fully funds the seminars in recognition of the need for youth to talk directly with professionals in the industry.
