Sydney-based designer Jillian Boustred is out to prove the commercial viability of sustainable design.

Following work with Bec & Bridge and a stint on the cutting room floor at Ellery, Boustred is securing clients for a venture with green credentials.

Over 90% of her garments are made in Australia using a transparent production line from start to finish.

Boustred said she has worked with many of her makers for over three years.

"We endeavour to use majority natural fibres in our collections including linen, silk and wool.

"Where possible we source our fibres from mills that are committed to sustainable goals, including GOTS certified cotton, BCI (Better Cotton Initiative), 4Sustainability (chemical management), and more.

"We keep our production runs small and considered, meaning we have less excess stock at the end of our seasons. Rather than over producing we recut styles in response to the demand."

The current collection includes a minimalist range of separates and dresses, with an average price point of $350.

The brand is now stocked in David Jones and numerous boutiques across Australia.
