Australian designer label LifewithBird celebrated its 10th anniversary and launched its spring/summer 2012 range via an exclusive collection preview yesterday.
The event, which marks a milestone in the lifespan of Melbourne label, was held at the Utzon Room inside the Sydney Opera House and attended by the fashion industry and media.
Designers Nicholas Van Messner and Bridget McCall said the collection's title, 'The Distance Between', came from the concept of a starting point and a finishing point.
The pieces, inspired by the brand's journey to date and the development of the label, included digital prints derived from cliff faces, sea spray and Australia’s ghost gum tree, delivered on ultra-modern, high tech fabrics and textured jacquards.
Silhouettes were created through subtle shaping and soft tailoring, simultaneously contrasted with equally outsized shapes.
