Global online marketplace Etsy has forged a partnership with Australian start up company Sendle.

The partnership will aim to allow Etsy sellers in the local market a free premium account with Sendle, offering a door-to-door carbon neutral delivery service.

Etsy Australia CEO Helen Souness believes that the move was made based on the needs of its largest demographic of sellers.

“Our recent report into Etsy’s Australian community identified that the majority of our sellers are sole traders, female, under 35 and often have children with them at home.

“We recognise that for these people, dealing with deliveries takes up too much of their day.

“With Sendle’s door-to-door delivery service Etsy’s valued sellers will regain precious time as they no longer need to leave their house and line up to send their products to customers.”

Sendle CEO James Chin Moody said that the partnership has also been activated with small businesses in mind.

“Small business owners are at the heart of the Australian economy, and we are delighted to be partnering with Etsy to help them.

“Sendle was founded to create a simple, reliable and affordable parcel delivery service tailored exactly to this group - with door-to-door delivery cheaper than lining up at the post office.”

Sendle currently delivers to around 17,000 towns and suburbs across Australia.
