Following the release of its 2021 Transparency Report, Elk has revealed where it has made the biggest impact: materials.
"The transition to better fabrics has been major," co-founder Marnie Goding told Ragtrader.
"Our largest impact is through our product and the greatest volume is consumed in apparel.
"We have shifted to better cotton, "greener" and certified man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCF) and moved almost entirely away from synthetics," she said.
According to the Transparency Report, certified organic cotton made up 41% of Elk’s total cotton use in 2020, up from 29% in 2019.
Meanwhile, 66% of its MMCFs came from CanopyStyle ‘green shirt’ ranked producers, up from 33% in 2019.
