eBay Australia will launch its first-ever ‘24 Hours of Drops’, a 24-hour live shopping event featuring more than 1,000 items across over 100 streams, running from 8am on June 26 to June 27.

The event marks the arrival of pre-loved fashion on eBay Live in Australia, with luxury items including Chanel, Gucci and Hermès featured across a series of streams, alongside hundreds of "Penny Drop" deals offering items for 1 cent. Exclusive deals, rare collectables and trading cards will also be available throughout the 24-hour period.

The launch coincides with new eBay research showing Australians could spend up to $7.5 billion on live commerce for pre-loved fashion items over the next 12 months. Among Australians surveyed, value was the leading driver for purchasing through live commerce platforms at 41 per cent, followed by the ability to view items in real time at 33 per cent and the ability to interact directly with sellers at 26 per cent.

Australian fashion identity Lara Worthington will host an exclusive eBay Live stream featuring curated pieces from her personal archive alongside designer items, including a Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton handbag listed for 1 cent. Pieces from her archive include a Phoebe Philo-era Celine skirt and a custom Viktor Gichev dress worn to the 2025 Avatar movie premiere.

The stream will also feature a Burberry cropped trench, a Chanel tweed jacket, Miu Miu boots and a Coach Tabby. Proceeds from the auction will go to Bowel Cancer Australia via eBay's partner Goodlot.

"Fashion, for me, has always been about personal expression, but what I love about pre-loved pieces is the history they carry, reflecting that moment in time," Worthington said.

"Being part of an eBay Live event like this celebrates those stories. It gives iconic pieces that I love a new life in a way that feels modern, fun and personal."

eBay Live Australia country manager Alaister Low said the research pointed to strong demand for both live commerce and pre-loved fashion in the local market.

"Our research shows Australians are drawn to live commerce for the opportunity to discover unique pieces, connect directly with sellers and enjoy a more immersive shopping experience. '24 Hours of Drops' brings all of these elements together in one place," Low said.

"We're also seeing strong demand for pre-loved fashion on eBay, as Australians increasingly seek out quality, value and unique pieces that reflect their personal style. Bringing pre-loved fashion to eBay Live is a natural next step, combining the excitement of real-time shopping with the trust and authenticity eBay is known for."

The Australian launch follows a ‘48 Hours of Drops’ event in the US, which set a new daily sales volume record for eBay Live, with each day outperforming previous Black Friday records by 60 per cent. The format has also gained traction in the United Kingdom and Germany, particularly among younger audiences.

Emily Symes, owner of Ekoluv and an eBay Live seller, said the live format made fashion discovery more immediate.

"It's exciting to help bring pre-loved fashion to eBay Live and be a part of 24 Hours of Drops, especially when the pieces have such a strong fashion story behind them," Symes said.

"Live shopping gives people the chance to see items up close in real time while making the whole experience feel more personal and engaging."

The 24-hour event will run with more than 100 livestreams, over 1,000 items and more than 100 ‘Penny Drop’ deals offering items for 1 cent. Australians can tune in via the eBay app or via the platform’s online channel from 8am on June 26.

Worthington’s livestream will run from 2pm on the day.
