Online marketplace eBay has announced its latest partnership with Google, providing a new personalised shopping experience this Christmas.
Australian consumers will be able to use Google Assistant to access eBay products simply by saying ‘Ask eBay’ or ‘Talk to eBay’.
This will give customers a new way to engage with the 60 million listings found on the site and will be compatible with Google Home devices, as well as Android and iOS smartphones.
Additionally, a new ‘What’s it Worth’ function has been added, allowing shoppers to ask what something is worth on eBay.
eBay MD ANZ markets Tim MacKinnon said the new partnership was the perfect example of how artificial intelligence was creating a new personalised shopping experience.
“Working with Google is the next innovative step for us, as partnerships have always been a large part of the eBay business.
“Already we have 80 of the 100 largest Australian retailers on the platform with everyone from Myer to Woolworths, and this new partnership expands our technological capabilities to provide even greater access for consumers.”
In 2017, more than 239 million hours have been spent browsing the site in Australia.
