The Australian Fashion Chamber (AFC) has opened applications for the first Australian Designers Showroom in Paris.

The showroom will be hosted as part of the city’s spring/summer 2016 ready-to-wear Fashion Week.

It will operate from October 4 - 7 with six designers selected to take part.

This will be the second initiative hosted in Paris by the Australian Fashion Chamber.

In April 2014, six Australian designers took part in an industry showcase during the autumn/winter 2015 showings.

These designer brands included Camilla + Marc, Dion Lee, ELLERY, Michael Lo Sordo, STRATEAS.CARLUCCI and TOME.

Open to AFC members, the designers will be selected based on their industry skill, experience and knowledge, as well as the strength of their current seasonal collection.

Entrants will also be judged on their business acumen and potential commercial success, including their short-term and long-term business objectives.

The winners will be chosen by members of the AFC board including deputy chair and editor-in-chief of Harper’s BAZAAR Kellie Hush, designer Carla Zampatti and guest judge and founder of Sass and Bide, Sarah-Jane Clarke.

Five established designers and one emerging designer will be chosen as part of the showcase, with established designers referring to those who have been in business for over four years and emerging designers have been in business for more than two years.

Applications are now open until July 20, with the selected designers to be announced at the end of July 2015.
