Department store David Jones has revealed its latest tie-up.
The retailer confirmed today that it has launched a new ‘Shop with Points’ program in partnership with American Express Australia.
The collaboration will see David Jones claim its stake as the sole merchandise partner for points redemption in Australia.
The tie-up enables holders of American Express cards issued by American Express Australia and enrolled in the American Express Membership Rewards Program to shop online with David Jones by redeeming points (in full or in part) to pay for purchases.
Unlike rewards programs that only allow customers to redeem from a pre-selected list of options, eligible American Express Card Members will be able to redeem their points to purchase any of the merchandise availble on the David Jones webstore.
David Jones currently has more than 100,000 products across all of its categories available on its webstore and has flagged plans to continue expanding its product offering.
David Jones claims that this program is “amongst the most attractive in the Australian market”, with David Jones American Express Card Members being able to redeem 13,300 Membership Reward Points for $100 and other Membership Rewards enrolled Card Members being able to redeem 13,500 points for $100.
David Jones Group executive of marketing and financial services and customer innovation David Robinson added that the move will serve to also strengthen the retailer's existing relationship with American Express.
“We are proud of this extension of our collaboration with American Express which not only enables David Jones to access American Express Card Members with an attractive new shopping proposition, but offers our existing David Jones American Express Card Members a further incentive and way to access our brands on the webstore.
“Today’s market is competitive and we remain competitive by continually working with our strategic partners to ensure we are engaging new customers with exciting and varied ways to shop,” Robinson said.
David Jones concluded that the ‘Shop With Points’ program aims to enhance the current in-store credit card redemption program, where David Jones American Express Card Members can use Membership Rewards points to redeem David Jones giftcards when shopping at any David Jones store.
‘Shop with Points’ will not apply to the David Jones Storecard.
