Department store giant David Jones has revealed a raft of new brands set to join its fold, with several defecting from retail rival Myer.

The fresh additions, a mix of international and national brands, are set to join the David Jones business in August 2013, on a department store exclusive basis.

This follows news that David Jones will stock Spanish high street brand Mango from the same month this year.

The new brands include:

International

  • Givenchy – a luxury French brand of clothing, accessories, perfumes and cosmetics. David Jones already stocks the Shoes and Cosmetics (including perfumes) and under a new agreement has now secured the ready-to-wear fashion and Givenchy handbags on a department store exclusive basis.

  • Joseph – one of the most respected fashion brands in Britain. David Jones will be offering the ready-to-wear womenswear.

Jones will be stocking Truth or Dare footwear line including flats, heels and boots. The brand is currently stocked in Nordstrom and Selfridges.

  • Eddie Borgo - award-winning jewellery from New York, fusing high end and street styles.

  • Butterfly & Twists – London-based brand renowned for its ballet slipper and casual footwear.

National

Sunseeker – iconic Australian swimwear brand started in the 1970’s.

Gumboots – Australian children’s clothing brand established in 1982.

Finders Keepers – internationally successful Australian young fashion brand, defined by its unique and often quirky prints, on-trend design and pop colours.

Talulah – up and coming Australian fashion brand, created by award winning designer Kelli Wharton. Signed up at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week.

Of the above listed brands, Givenchy, Joseph, Pucci, Sunseeker, Finders Keepers and Gumboots are exiting Myer and becoming department store exclusive to David Jones.

The switch will see Givenchy, Pucci and Sunseeker convert from a dual supply arrangement with both major Australian department stores to an exclusive arrangement with David Jones. Joseph, Finders Keepers and Gumboots will end their department store exclusive arrangement with Myer in order to enter David Jones on a department store exclusive basis.

Commenting on its expanded brand portfolio, David Jones group executive of merchandise Donna Player said the new additions align with the retailer's long-standing market strategy.

"Our focus is on introducing freshness and newness into our business. Brands are increasingly looking to team up with us on a department store exclusive basis as they see the benefits of aligning themselves with a department store that has a 'House of Brands' strategy and that understands and represents them in the manner in which they wish to be represented,” she said.

"The new brands announced today are particularly exciting because they range across our most popular categories and will collectively appeal to a broad spectrum of our customers. They also help reinforce David Jones’ positioning in the Australian market as a fashion authority.”
