Decathlon is reassurring Australian snow lovers they will be able to access an ample amount of snow gear, after supermarket Aldi announced its annual snow gear special buys event would not go ahead this year.

Citing supply chain issues and the need to prioritise grocery items, Aldi posted the news to its Facebook page on Friday last week.

"We know many customers look forward to our annual snow gear special buys and we are disappointed to share it will not be in stores this year," the supermarket said.

"Deep disruption in our supply chains over a number of months has meant that we have needed to make difficult decisions to make sure grocery is prioritised, and the removal of this year’s snow gear special buys was a hard, but responsible option.

"It is never our intention to cause disappointment, but we hope our customers understand the need to prioritise essentials in a time that has been a logistical challenge," Aldi said.

Recognising the opportunity to welcome in new customers looking for affordable snow gear, Decathlon is encouraging customers to shop its snow gear instead.

Decathlon Australia CEO Olivier Robinet said the sports retailer wants Aussie snow lovers to know it is fully stocked and ready for customers.

"We are the world's largest sports products designer, manufacturer and retailer and we do not have any issues with supply. We have enough stock for everyone and then some.

"As a global business we have the ability to move stock around to where it is needed and we have plenty of winter snow gear this year.

"We will be adding more products and more special prices to make sure more people can afford to enjoy the winter season of snow, sport, recreation, fun and activities," he said.

Decathlon's snow sale begins in mid-May.

"We want all Aldi customers to know that they can come to us, we have their back... or to be more precise... their snow gear," Robinet added.
