David Jones and General Pants have forged a powerful alliance.

The department store will roll out General Pants menswear and accessories in over half of its stores over the next six months.

The announcement was made at the opening of David Jones' new Eastland store.

The new Melbourne store features a new service and merchandising model, representing a blueprint for future David Jones stores.

At the centre of the new strategy is the introduction of more full-time career employees.

Armed with more efficient store systems, the sales teams will be trained in better product knowledge and spend more time on the floor serving customers.

In a world first, David Jones has partnered with Beauty EDU to launch a beatuy school campus within the store.

Consumers will be able to access a range of beauty services via qualified students.

The store also features a premium cafe, digital installations, a full suite of customer services and design-led departments such as a casual fashion zone framed in red tinted glass.

The new store design, which features a dramatic atrium and a monochrome palette, was created by renowned international design firm Dalziel & Pow.

It is the first of up to ten new stores David Jones plans to open nationally in the next four years.

Launching in conjuction with Eastland is a new personalised style app DJSTYLE+.

The app provides customers with free insta-style advice from a community of stylists and bloggers.

Shoppers can upload a photo and ask for fashion guidance or join the ‘Style Squad’ and help others in a fashion or beauty emergency.
