David Jones and Country Road Group have delivered good news to their new owner.
South African retailer Woolworths has released a trading update on the pair, following its double acquisition last year.
David Jones increased turnover by two per cent for the five months to December.
Operating profit was up 10.3 per cent to $107 million.
Country Road Group sales increased 9.2 per cent, with sales in comparable stores increasing by 5.3 per cent.
Gross margin declined 0.7 per cent due to higher markdowns, particularly in Country Road womenswear.
Operating costs continued to be well controlled, resulting in a 9.4 per cent increase in operating profit.
