Premium department store David Jones has finalised a $22 million transformation of its Bondi Junction space.
As part of the revamp, 31 new brands have been introduced to the Bondi Westfield store, adding to an overall 85 newly included brands for the department store nationally in recent months.
The reopening was celebrated with an intimate breakfast event held at the Bondi Junction store, hosted by a friend of David Jones, Renee Bargh. The event was attended by brand partners, media, talent, and VIP customers.
A panel discussion was held after the breakfast, which included David Jones’ executive GM of womenswear, footwear and accessories, Bridget Veals, as well as Academy Brand founder Anthony Pitt and Rationale founder Richard Parker.
The celebration continued with a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside David Jones team members, customers, and CEO Scott Fyfe, officially marking the store’s reopening.
Speaking at the event, Fyfe confirmed its store revamp at Bondi will continue across 40 per cent of its store footprint in the next two years.
“The reimagined Bondi Junction store brings us one step closer to realising our Vision 2025+ strategy, solidifying our position as Australia’s leading premium omnichannel retailer,” David Jones CEO Scott Fyfe said.
“For 187 years, we’ve been at the forefront of retail innovation, and this relaunch reflects our commitment to curating world-class brands and delivering an elevated customer experience. More than just a refurbishment, this store embodies resilience, leadership, and community spirit.
We’re deeply grateful to our brand partners for their belief in our vision and their role in bringing this transformation to life.”
David Jones Bondi Junction will continue the celebrations with a weekend-long shopping round-up featuring brand activations, DJs, live entertainment and customer experiences.
The first 100 customers through the doors will receive a $50 David Jones Gift Card, while all shoppers can receive a $30 David Jones Gift Card with purchases over $150 on Beauty.
The 31 newly introduced brands cover fashion, beauty and home, with the revamped store also including private beauty rooms. This includes a new concession store from Rodd & Gunn in the menswear space, alongside other men's brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Balmain, Off White and Gibson. The womenswear space now includes Cue, Effie Kats and Free People.
