Department store David Jones has lost another executive, just days after announcing a cull and restructure of its head office.

David Jones company secretary and general counsel Caroline Waldron has resigned, effective from July 9, with the company confirming that “an announcement regarding the appointment of a new company secretary and general counsel will be made in coming weeks”.

In a brief statement to market, chairman Robert Savage thanked Waldron for her service at David Jones.

As recently reported on ragtrader.com.au, David Jones last week revealed a series of positions at the company are also set to become redundant, as the department store moves ahead with its digital startegy.

A number of key management team appointments will take effect from July 30, with the redundancies include home and food group executive Patrick Robinson and marketing group executive Brett Riddington, as well as a number of other head office staff.

However, the department store has also made several new appointments and created three new positions, including group executive - merchandise, which will be filled by Donna Player.

Player has 30 years of retail experience, including 11 years at Woolworths Limited, where she most recently occupied the role of general manager of merchandise and planning at Big W.
