David Jones is set to offer customers luxurious private shopping suites with dedicated style advisors.
The luxury service will be a cornerstone of a new 1400 metre square boutique concept store at Barangaroo.
The site will will be a tenth the size of an average David Jones store and is expected to open in October 2016.
It will offer customers edited fashion collections, a concierge service, personal styling, VIP shopping rooms and a click and collect service.
Barangaroo will mark David Jones' first city centre opening in 16 years.
It will occupy the ground and first floors of Tower Three at International Towers Sydney.
CEO Ian Nairn said the new format is in line with a transformation bid under new owners Woolworths.
"David Jones is dedicated to a customer-first strategy and Barangaroo is a great example of that coming to life.
"The new flexible store format that will premiere at Barangaroo provides us with a strategic growth opportunity in areas where our core customers are, without being restricted to a shopping centre environment."
The anticipated opening hours of David Jones at Barangaroo are Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
