David Jones has signed on as presenting partner of the National Designer Award.
Now in its 21st year, the award is part of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) program.
The Award has helped launch the careers of some of Australia’s leading designers including macgraw (2016), PAGEANT (2015), STRATEAS.CARLUCCI (2014), Dion Lee (2010), Romance Was Born (2009), Yeojin Bae (2007), Josh Goot (2005) and Toni Maticevski (2002).
VAMFF chief Graeme Lewsey said this is a significant partnership, with a cash payment of $15,000 (up from $10,000) and integration into David Jones.
The winning designer will also be included in a gala runway presented by the department store.
“We are honored to present the National Designer Award, now celebrating its 21st year and would like to thank Tiffany & Co. for its past commitment and contribution to this award”, Lewsey said.
“The Festival is committed to being the leader in discovering and nurturing Australian fashion talent and we are confident that David Jones is the ideal partner to drive the award into the future and further support the Australian fashion industry.”
Applications are now open for the 2017 National Designer Award here.
