A Sydney-based leather footwear and accessories brand is pioneering a campaign with a charitable difference.
Mere has partnered with Youth Off The Streets for a triple-tier awareness and fundraising campaign.
Designer James Noakes has captured images which illustrate the issue of homelessness in Sydney.
The images are taken with signed acknowledgement from participants, and are accompanied with an account of their circumstances.
The images and stories will be released in a hardcover book From The Ground Up, with all proceeds donated to Youth Off The Streets.
This will go on sale from August 28, priced at $89.95 available online via www.mere.com.au.
Coinciding with the launch will be an exhibition featuring street artists, who have also contributed their work for the cause.
All proceeds and donations from the exhibition will also be donated to Youth Off the Streets.
The second component of the campaign is a survival kit for participants spanning clothing, camping and food essentials.
The kit contains a new pair of shoes and leather duffle supplied by Mere; a new pair of socks (supplied by Farewell Co.); camping equipment such as a thermal blanket; sleeping mat, canteen food pack (supplied by Union St. Deli) and other small necessities.
The final arm of the initiative is an awareness drive through a spring/summer 2015 campaign featuring the imagery.
The campaign will run in-stores, online and social media outlets.
