Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation (DAAFF) has announced that expressions of interest are now open for the annual Country to Couture showcase.
The event, which is supported by Country Road and the Northern Territory Government, is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander textiles and fashion design.
It offers First Nations creatives the opportunity to engage with contemporary cultural storytelling and knowledge sharing.
In a statement, DAAFF's Indigenous Fashion Projects (IFP) said the organisation is excited to explore new designs and textiles.
"Country to Couture's high energy runway presents innovative collections from Indigenous designers and artists across Australia, as well as unique collaborations between Indigenous communities and well-known Australian labels.
"IFP are looking to showcase new and innovative fashion and textile collections from First Nations artists and designers, and/or collaborations where Indigenous agency and ethical practice are at the forefront," the organisation said.
Designers and creatives involved in the showcase will be featured in digital broadcast and media coverage, as well as having the opportunity to be part of DAAFF's physical and digital retail platforms.
The 2021 NITV Facebook broadcast of the event clocked over 7,600 views.
Expressions of interest to be part of the Country to Couture event close on March 4 2022.
Country to Couture will take place in Darwin on Larrakia Country on August 02 2022.
