Fashion and lifestyle brand Country Road is planning to open its latest flagship store at Queen Street Mall in Queensland’s capital.
Opening on Friday, August 29, the new store is located in the heritage-listed Bank Building. The interior was designed by Moloney & Folar in conjunction with the fashion brand, with the fit-out incorporating the traditional interior and external facade, double height atrium and the original marble floor and stone benches.
Fitout materials overlaid into the historical interior include spotted gum wall cladding and a customised light-filled coffered ceiling. The store also features rugs made by local artisans.
Further highlights include recycled plastic counter cladding and vernacular architecture, which was the inspiration behind the staircase leading to the mezzanine Men’s and Home departments.
A customised gift wrap counter is featured in the Home space, with customer service points in each fitting room and customer seating.
Matching other stores across the Country Road portfolio, this Brisbane flagship has also attained a 5 Star Green Star Interior Certification from the Green Building Council of Australia.
To mark the grand opening, Country Road will host an in-store activation on opening day, which will include a coffee cart, pasties, a fresh flower store and a selection of giveaways, which are to be confirmed.
The store will also house the brand’s Spring/Summer 2026 range across women’s, men’s, kids’, home and pets.
The latest opening comes after media scrutiny over the brand’s decision to shutter its Sydney CBD flagship at the Queen Victoria Building. Reports also claimed Country Road’s Pitt Street Mall store is scheduled to close in 2028 when its lease ends.
Regarding the Pitt Street Mall store, Country Road Group indicated that if a change is required at the end of its lease, it will aim to find a suitable new location.
"From time to time, we review our retail store portfolio to ensure we're continuing to meet the needs of our customers,” a Country Road Group spokesperson told Ragtrader in mid-July.
“We are committed to delivering great experiences throughout our networks and we are investing in our stores, with 10 new or refurbished stores opening by the end of the year.”
On top of the new Brisbane CBD flagship opening on August 29, Country Road will relocate another store to a larger space within Eastland.
September will also see the reopening of the refurbished Mosman store, followed in October by two major launches: a new store at Chatswood, part of the centre’s redevelopment, and an expanded and refurbished store at Burnside Village, also reopening as part of the precinct’s wider transformation.
