The Council of Textile & Fashion (CTF) has launched a pop-up retail and mentoring initiative for emerging Australian labels.
The initiative, Curated Melbourne, will coincide with the 2017 Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival.
It will be supported by a range of industry partners including Country Road, Nobody Denim, Fashion Equipped and the Australian Fashion Chamber.
Emerging Australian labels will be given the opportunity to work with industry mentors across a 12 month period, who will help develop their business goals, as well as increase their networks and exposure.
Fashion Equipped founder Elizabeth Formosa acknowledged the difficulty that can come with launching a business.
“We all know how hard it can be to establish a label and keep it going in these straightened times, having the right advice and help with planning and key decision making can make or break a business – no matter how creative or innovative it is.
Curated Melbourne is also running a series of pop-up events for the chosen labels in Melbourne throughout the year, the next being from 9 - 12 March at L1 Studios in Little Bourke Street, Melbourne.
