Melbourne based eyewear label Soleurs has emerged as a new player in a bid to shake up Australia's sunglasses offering.

Dr Nathan Orbach recently launched the ecommerce business with a focus on ethical production and high grade eye protection.

Following a 30 year career as a medical professional, Orbach said he was spurred on to launch the business upon noticing a gap in the eyewear market.

“Whilst travelling around Europe and Asia, the enormous difference between the prices people paid for designer sunglasses and their humble origins really hit me.

“The disparity between the quality level in the current luxury marketplace and the related price points is an issue that needs to be addressed.”

The company designs its frames in-house before manufacturing overseas.

The polarised lenses include a special filter to reduce glare and block intense light.

Orbach said that the main aim of the business is to improve eye health at an affordable cost.

“Many designer labels don’t come with this as standard and more often than not, customers have to pay extra.

“Through our transparent and authentic business model, we can restore this imbalance in the current luxury marketplace.”

Price points for the frames start at $149.
