Cotton On Group has taken the next step in a program that has already seen $30 million in investment over the last 18 months.

The Melbourne-based retail giant has appointed world renowned ethicist Dr Pippa Grange as general manager of people and culture.

Grange's appointment will build on the company's extensive employee initiatives, which includes the rollout of a $30 million educational platform Cotton On Group Uni.

The platform is run in conjunction with Deakin University.

Grange will lead this global strategy in addition to the Group's recruitment, human resources, health and wellbeing, ethics and workplace safety functions.

The Group has over 19,000 employees across 17 countries.

CEO Peter Johnson said over 2000 new employees have been welcomed in the past year, including the successful integration of Supre.

Grange, who has worked as a consultant for the Group, confirmed the company's focus on professional development.

“The Cotton On Group continues to pave the way in innovative retailing practices, with a focus on its people and their personal and professional development which traditionally hasn’t always been a priority within this market sector.

"Despite such rapid expansion, the Group has never lost sight of the importance of their people and their growth.

"I look forward to actively contributing to this high performance culture and further enabling the Cotton On Group team to be at their very best."
