Cotton On has partnered with the Global Poverty Project, just a month after coming to the table to improve safety conditions for workers in Bangladesh.

Cotton On Foundation and Global Poverty Project will drive education investment in Southern Uganda, where the two organisations are working to create 20,000 school places.

The aim is to cut poverty through education reform, with a reported 57 million children globally going without an education.

Cotton On Foundation has already constructed more than 30 classrooms since 2007 and employed more than 90 teachers.

Meals for all students including self-sustaining chicken pens housing 4,000 chickens have been provided along with healthcare for students.

The Foundation has developed bore holes to create clean drinkable water for all students as well as creating adult advocates, developing adult literacy classes and improved attendance rates in schools.

Cotton On has more than 1030 stores globally.

The retailer came under pressure last month, after it was urged to sign on to the Bangladesh Fire and Safety Accord to improve working conditions in the country.

Charity Oxfam pressured Cotton On, Big W and other major Australian retailer to sign the Accord after Kmart and Target became the first locals to pledge.
