Cotton On Group has vowed to look after staff amid a national shutdown of stores.

CEO Peter Johnson said full-time and part-time staff will continued to be paid over the next month, as sites temporarily close due to COVID-19.

”As an Aussie brand, the best thing we can do for our mates and our loved ones right now is to stay at home.

“For us, this means closing the doors to our 650 Australian stores at 5pm, Sunday 29th March.

“As we navigate through some pretty tough times right now, our number one priority is to protect the livelihoods of our teams around the world as best we can.”

The Group has connected with likeminded retailers such as Woolworths and Coles to provide short-term job opportunities for its casual team until it opens its doors again.

“While this crisis continues to throw curveballs daily, we’re confident that we have the right plan in place to come out the other end and bounce back quickly.

“In our 30 years, we’ve never shied away from a challenge and we know that the resilience of our awesome team and the loyalty of our customers is our greatest asset,” he said.
