Aurelio Costarella will be inducted into the Design Institute of Australia's Hall of Fame on September 24.
Formed in 1998, less than a handful of fashion designers have been awarded an induction.
These include Florence Broadhurst, Rae Ganim and Jenny Kee.
The 2016 inductees hail from four states and represent the disciplines of furniture design, fashion design and jewellery design and the fields of design writing, retailing, education and manufacturing.
Aurelio Costarella was established in 2000 and is designed by Aurelio Costarella.
The brand creates women's ready-to-wear and eveningwear collections with a focus on intricate detailing, tailoring and cutting.
Growing up in Western Australia as the youngest son of a migrant family, Costarella went on to study architecture in the 1980s before broaching into fashion.
His gowns have been worn by a number of international celebrities including Rihanna, Dita Von Teese, Nicole Scherzinger, Tyra Banks, Dannii Minogue, Geri Haliwell, Kelly Rowland and Tina Arena.
The brand's seasonal collections are ranged in its flagship boutique in Perth, Western Australia and in David Jones stores nationally.
The e-boutique carries the largest selection of pieces and features online exclusives.
