Both Colette By Colette Hayman and The Daily Edited (TDE) have returned to trading after the assets of both brands were acquired by Group48.
This comes a few months after Marquee Retail Group fell into voluntary administration for the second time, with up to 400 jobs impacted across both brands.
Group48 – an Australian distributor across health, beauty, wellness and lifestyle categories – confirmed the key assets taken on include websites and some stock for the Colette By Colette Hayman business.
Group48 also retained five staff in the head office, with their roles covering product, design, creative, monogram as well as online and digital. These staff have around five to seven years of experience across both brands, with Mendonca noting their retention will help keep the original brand identity going for both businesses.
Alongside Colette By Colette Hayman and The Daily Edited, Group48 also manages Barcs, Amelie, Polished London, Ashaya, Bodytools, Sorted Skin, CleanLogic and My Daily Discounts. The group is formerly known as Barcs Australia.
“Colette and TDE are more than just brands; they’re cultural icons that resonate deeply with Australian consumers,” Group48 CEO Marc Reid said. “We are committed to bringing them back stronger than ever, with fresh energy, renewed relevance, and the resources to ensure their long-term success.”
The 77-year-old company is in the process of re-scaling both brands, including getting new stock in, particularly core and best-sellers, over the next few weeks. Further ahead, the brand is considering new categories.
Launched in 2014, The Daily Edited is a premium accessories brand. Under its new ownership, future collections are expected to mirror the brand’s original DNA. This includes a key focus on mobile phone cases, which Group48 general manager Fiona Mendonca noted has been a big category for TDE. With the iPhone 17 just launched, Mendonca confirmed the brand now has the latest cases available to order online.
Colette By Colette Hayman opened its first store in 2010, and grew to nearly 40 stores by 2020. The brand faced the administrators in 2020, and was then bought up by retail executive Bernie Brookes, who then snapped up the assets of The Daily Edited in 2022, placing both under the newly formed Marquee Retail Group.
Marquee Retail Group collapsed in 2024, and then again in 2025, with all Colette stores closing down.
Under Group48, Colette By Colette Hayman will retain its fashion-forward identity, while still focusing on affordability.
Mendonca added that the digital launch strategy is underway for both brands, re-engaging a database of 4 million customers, with Group48 currently considering retail and wholesale opportunities.
The group company has a raft of key business partners in the fashion retail space, including Sass & Bide, Marcs, David Lawrence, Myer, Carla Zampatti, David Jones and some of the brands under Retail Apparel Group – namely Connor and YD.
“Today’s consumer craves personalisation, creativity, and authenticity,” Mendonca said. “With our resources, retail expertise, and digital-first strategy, we’re in the perfect position to deliver that and to write the next chapter in the Colette and TDE story.”
The revival of Colette and TDE marks a major step in Group48’s growth strategy, which includes plans to double the scale of the business within the next five years.
