Online eTailer Catch has appointed former APAC CEO of Groupon, Steve Traplin, to its newly created role, general manager of Catch Marketplace.
In the new role, Traplin will lead the growth of one of Australia's largest online marketplaces.
Catch Marketplace provides a platform for independent retailers to boost brand presence and gain access to an audience of over three million customers.
"I jumped at the opportunity to join the Catch team," Traplin said of his appointment.
"The journey and success of this Aussie eCommerce company over the past 10 years is one I have watched from close by, and I can’t wait to help Australia’s independent retailers access our powerful online community," he said.
Traplin joins the eTailer with almost two decades of experience under his belt, having also served as the VP of Groupon International and sales director and director of digital marketing services at Yellow Pages Group NZ.
At Yellow Pages Group, Traplin led the creation of a digital marketing services division, taking it from inception to a revenue unit in just 18 months.
Meanwhile, as APAC CEO at Groupon, Traplin turned around Groupon’s Japan business unit from negative to positive growth within 18 months, after five years of flat and declining sales.
He also delivered year-on-year growth in 2017-18 and 2018-19 across customer revenue; purchases; and customer and merchant satisfaction.
His efforts also saw Groupon APAC take out a Great Place To Work accreditation in 2018.
