Earlier this week, Scandanavian shoe brand Ecco set a new world record in Sydney's Darling Harbour, as part of an extravagant branding campaign.
The brand, which launched its new Sculptured 65 range in Australia this month, broke the global record for the world’s longest catwalk on Monday (August 27), setting up a runway event 2.812 KM long to showcase its wares.
The Ecco runway, co-hosted by writer and media personality Mia Freedman, beat the existing world record of 2.69km set in Turkey last year by 122 metres, and saw models and fashion designer Dylan Cooper take 40-minutes to complete the catwalk.
Models also included fashion bloggers and competition winners, who took to the custom-built runway wearing key pieces from the spring/summer 2012 collection and Ecco's new high heel range - Sculptured 65.
Commenting on the international coup, Ecco marketing manager Wadia Alkhoury said the event and its success embodied the brand and its new range.
“Today’s incredible achievement has proven that Ecco shoes are both stylish and comfortable - even when walking over 2.81 km! It is a fantastic feeling to hold the record for the World’s Longest Catwalk and we give our thanks to all of those who helped us to achieve it.”
