Collette Dinnigan, Dion Lee and Richard Nicholl will be among 30 designers to take part in the official Campaign for Wool Australia launch tomorrow evening.

First established by Prince Charles in February 2010, the Campaign for Wool encourages global industry associations and businesses to embrace wool as an environmentally superior and sustainable fabric.

As exclusively reported in Ragtrader magazine earlier this month, local retailers and designers are being targeted to enlist in the global initiative. Westfield, Country Road and M.J Bale are among brands confirmed to host store and/or product activations as part of the campaign.

The Australian launch will kick off from 6pm, with the Governer-General of Australia Quentin Bryce hosting proceedings. A media conference will also be staged tomorrow, in which a media opportunity will be presented to photograph sheep on Sydney Harbour, the first time in around 150 years.

To celebrate British Wool Week last year, the Campaign for Wool filled Savile Row with grass and sheep in a similar, high-profile media call. UK High Street retailers, department stores and designer brands also hosted in-store events and product launches throughout the week.

Earlier this year, Australian Wool Innovation sponsored three London Fashion Week designers to showcase woollen garments as part of their autumn/winter collections. To view who they are, click through to Ragtrader's freshly launched Facebook page here.
