Australian resortwear label Camilla is set to open a revamped store in South Australia on May 29, which includes a sit-in train carriage reminiscent of previous store designs.
The newly revised store is situated at Burnside Village in Adelaide’s inner east. The centre has seen a recent influx of fashion and accessories retailers, with luggage brand July also set to open doors there on May 29. In recent months, Uniqlo opened a store there, with Louis Vuitton launching a pop-up in the lead up to Christmas 2024.
The sit-in train carriage is a similar concept seen in its 2023 store opening in Parramatta in Sydney’s west, with the Burnside carriage including digital window displays showing founder and designer Camilla Franks’ travelogues.
"My dream for the store was to create something unexpected and unique, that would awaken a sense of wonder in people,” Franks said. “I wanted the new boutiques to be the story of my brand, so that visitors could experience my love for travel, exploration and storytelling through the magic of print, in living colour.
"I work with the most amazing artisans in Australia and India, so I knew that the only way for me to create the boutique of my dreams was to call on the incredible talents of my own Camilla collective and create it all in-house.”
The store will sell a range of the brand’s styles and prints.
Cohen Group CEO Gregg Downer, who oversees Burnside Village, welcomed the new Camilla boutique.
“Their unmistakable aesthetic, vibrant energy, and distinctive artistic expression aligns seamlessly with our commitment to offering a diverse and inspiring collection of brands.”
The revised store is Camilla's only store in South Australia. The resortwear label has 25 stores across Australia, and six stores across the United States.
