Ever wondered what industry buyers really think of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW)? Roslyn Wright, head buyer for online boutique Frockaholics, offers her thoughts on day two of RAFW 2011. Stay tuned for more...
10:00am: Our day starts with Rachel Gilbert, a firm Frockaholics favourite. Always stunning, the sequinned cocktail eveningwear cannot be missed in shades of white, silver, classic black and the stand out, chartreuse. The jackets featured are a sharply tailored welcome surprise and are sure to be featured in summer editorial. The structured bodice and full skirt gowns are absolutely amazing. What can we say, we want it all!
11:00am: Sara Phillips greets us with an Australian botanicals installation, the inspiration for the collection. Floating printed silk pieces are always popular with our clients and the exclusive snake print is sure to be a strong seller. Black dresses with heavy gold embellishment and cut out detail will be perfect for summer party season.
12:00pm: A label not yet stocked on Frockaholics, Little Joe Woman displays a relaxed yet polished look for the coming season. Basic t-shirts and flirty dresses for the ultra feminine woman look simply gorgeous on international guest model Yasmin le Bon. Watch this space.
1:00pm: Every piece is totally wearable at Manning Cartell. The collection is effortlessly elegant. Love the drama of the draped back featured on a few of the dresses. Any piece in the stonewall print and blue grotto colour will definitely be picked up, and the leather fringed lace dresses are a must have.
2:30pm: Mad dash out to Peter Lang's showroom. We are old friends so it's always great to catch up. The range not only features the fashionable addition of a pearl and crystal wedding collection but a lovely surprise collection featuring glorious pop colours. All very chic. A must have necklace features bright yellow glass beads, turquoise and ruby beads of all different shapes meshed on a wide gold chain and the matching ring... amazing. Also on show are pop coloured leather wrap cuffs, great fun for summer.
4:00pm: Quickly duck into order second summer at Lipsy from London, a Frockaholics favourite when it comes to pretty and fun fitting party dresses. We then view Religion, also from London. We love this label for being consistently off beat, casual and well priced.
6:00pm: I start wondering how the team is going at the evening shows as I am welcomed with a glass of bubbly at Nat Sui on Queen St, Woollahra. Always divine shoes in store plus these girls can put any leather colour combination together and make it work. Fresh colours of coral and emerald as well as the always essential neutrals.
7:30pm: Our last show of the day is Marnie Skillings. Inspired by travels and collectables the range stays true to her eclectic design aesthetic.
