Following on from the success of 2016, Brisbane Fashion Month has announced it will be returning in October 2017.

This follows news Brisbane Fashion Festival will return after an absence from the market.

Presented by Wintergarden, Brisbane Fashion Month will see founder Carly Vidal-Wallace focus on expanding the offering by including events such as a full-day workshop designed to educate, inspire and drive discussion for those building businesses or working within the industry.

A series of panellists will also facilitate industry based conversation around the topics of real-world challenges and opportunities.

Students will also be a focus of the event, with a new initiative and competition designed to showcase emerging talents across a raft of areas including millinery, fashion, accessories, illustrators, styling and photography.

Brisbane Fashion Month founder Carly-Vidal Wallace said she was excited to be bringing the event back, acknowledging the important role it plays for those working in Queensland's fashion industry.

"The ‘smart state’, as we have become known, is very much alive and well in terms of the breadth and depth of talent across the fashion, design and creative spaces.

"It is an incredible privilege to be bringing Brisbane Fashion Month back for its second year, creating an all-inclusive platform for all levels of the industry and the public to come together and celebrate great talent.”

The launch events have been confirmed with Brisbane Fashion Month kicking off with a a resort parade and rooftop party, industry-only round-table and finale, as well as a special initiative with indigenous artist Robert Henderson.

The project entitled ‘Nguyaguya-mi-lang Nurawin’ will see Henderson's works re-imagined into one-off fashion pieces designed by some of the state’s leading emerging designers.
