Brisbane Fashion Month will go ahead this October, as the city’s only major fashion and runway event for 2020.
Now in its fifth year, Brisbane Fashion Month will have its biggest line-up yet with runways, panel discussions and networking.
Brisbane Fashion Month director Laura Churchill says the event will follow strict COVID-19 guidelines.
“The effects of the 2020 pandemic have been devastating for so many industries, ours included, so there is no better time to bring together all this incredible state has to offer for a month-long opportunity to highlight and network with the biggest names in the industry,” she said.
“We are planning around the best advice and guidelines and expect events to look a little different this year, but will still deliver great experiences for our audience to see Brisbane fashion at its finest.”
The month-long festival will be Queensland’s largest showcase of local designers.
Brisbane Fashion Month’s major events will be staged at its new home; the newly launched Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct by LSH Property Australia.
Several events will be staged at the Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct’s event spaces overlooking the Brisbane river.
Brisbane Fashion Month presented by Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct will encompass several runway events throughout October, showcasing emerging designers and an outdoor runway and accessories market at West Village in West End.
West Village will also be home to the brand new Brisbane Beauty Forum event highlighting Queensland hair, makeup and skincare brands.
The event will have a strong focus on digital content and live streaming of all major events to welcome large audiences, despite in-person capacity restrictions at each event.
The 2020 line-up features free and ticketed events; from Brisbane designer pop-up stores to digital-only content.
Also joining the line-up of debut events is the Art and Fashion Forum hosted by Vault magazine editor and fashion commentator Alison Kubler.
The Sustainable Fashion Walking Tours, led by Britt’s List’s Brittanie Dreghorn, will return in 2020 to provide insight into ethical brands and sustainable fashion across two weekends in October.
Danielle Kay, the designer behind local brands d+k active and Sleepy Dee, will also throw open the doors to her design studio and workrooms to unveil the inner workings of local production.
