Bridget Veals has been appointed to both the Australian Fashion Council's Fashion Events Board and the overall AFC board today.

This will add to her current role as executive general manager of womenswear, footwear and accessories at David Jones.

David Jones confirmed the news in a LinkedIn post, saying her appointment acknowledges the dedication and commitment she has showcased over her career.

"Bridget has deep industry expertise and a passion for supporting the growth and sustainability of Australian fashion, while bringing the very best global brands to the Australian market," David Jones shared.

"Congratulations, Bridget! This is well-deserved recognition of your leadership and contribution to the Australian fashion landscape."

Veals has been part of David Jones since 2016, as GM of the womenswear space. Prior to this, she was a buying and planning director at Webster Holdings, the now-defunct former owner of Marcs, David Lawrence and Jigsaw.

She has also held a business manager of womenswear role at Myer from 2005 to 2009, and began her retail career as a senior buyer at Debenhams in the United Kingdom from 1992 to 2004.
