Catch has revealed its sales predictions for Black Friday, with tech and fitness products expected to be the biggest sellers.

The online retailer saw a 24% spike in Black Friday sales from 2016 to 2017.

It analysed past shopping data to reveal key insights into how customers may be shopping this year and expects to see even higher growth from 2017 to 2018.

It found that despite a growth in mobile shopping across the board, when it comes to Black Friday deals, customers prefer to shop online.

Catch revealed that desktop purchases in 2017 were up 55% and mobile shopping down 22% for the shopping event.

Sydneysiders had the highest volume of sales, especially in sports and fashion categories, followed by Melbourne residents who drove strong sales in beauty and tech.

The biggest selling categories in 2017 were electronics, followed by fitness, fashion accessories, home products and toys and games, with the top-selling items being Jaeger 32” HD Combo TV, ASICS trainers, Ray-Bans and a Kardashian bag.

Catch Group's CEO Nati Harpaz expects to see similar results this year, with deals on popular brands.

“Smart shoppers are taking advantage of the savings that online shopping events such as Black Friday and Click Frenzy offer, to get their holiday shopping done early.

“We are predicting our busiest Black Friday yet as we continue to offer our customers the best deals on the brands they love.”
