Womenswear designer Gary Bigeni has unveiled a special collaboration with Melbourne-based artist Matthew Johnson.
Bigeni debuted his spring/summer 2013/14 collection 'Alignment' with an intimate preview for Melbourne media.
Bigeni re-purposed six abstract paintings by Johnson into printed garments.
The colour scheme features rich pigmented shades of navy, cobalt, orange and jade offset with pastel shades.
Bigeni used his signature drape to create fluid silhouettes contrasted with sharp tailoring.
Key pieces include cropped suiting styles in crisp woven cottons, soft crepe dresses and silk georgette shirts.
An LED lighting installation was created for the gallery-style presentation, projecting the colour palette of the collection onto the models in random succession.
