Big W is reducing shelf prices on more than 800 products from 17 September, expanding a pricing program it launched in April.
Prices on participating items will fall by an average of 17 per cent, the retailer said. The reductions apply to standard shelf prices rather than short-term promotions.
Among the changes, the Contempo Espresso Machine will drop from $79 to $59. In April, Big W reduced prices on more than 2,000 products, including the Contempo Digital Dual Air Fryer 8L, which fell from $119 to $79.
Big W chief commercial officer Christine Faulkner said the retailer was responding to cost-of-living pressure on households.
"We know Aussie families are feeling the pressure, and value has never been more important. Our first wave of Price Drops made a real difference for our customers, so we wanted to extend that value to even more products across the store," Faulkner said.
"We're adding a wide range of everyday essentials, beauty favourites, and kids' toys to deliver immediate savings for the whole family. From pet food, kettles and toasters to nappies and cleaning products, our customers can trust they're getting great value on the products they want and need."
The reductions span home, beauty and kids' categories. The Contempo Kettle and matching Contempo 4 Slice Toaster will each drop by $10 to $29, while items such as the Harpic Fresh Power Liquid Toilet Cleaner and BabyLove Nappies are also included in the price cuts.
Everyday Rewards members can apply promotions on top of the new shelf prices by scanning their card at checkout. In-store signage will show the new price against the previous price.
Big W's Same Day Delivery service, run through DoorDash, operates in select postcodes. Orders placed before 12pm are delivered by 5pm the same day; orders placed after 12pm arrive by 5pm the following day, subject to postcode and product eligibility.
The pricing changes follow Big W's return to profitability in FY26. The retailer reported total sales of more than $4.7 billion, up 0.9 per cent, with parent company Woolworths Group crediting growth in clothing. Big W's EBIT turned positive at $64 million, from a loss of $33 million in FY25. Gross margin rose 152 basis points to 31.4 per cent, and cost of doing business as a percentage of sales fell 55 basis points to 30.1 per cent.
Woolworths Group reported that "everyday" sales at Big W remained challenged in a competitive trading environment, with the Big Price Drops campaign and a planned health and beauty price reset in the fourth quarter cited as measures to improve performance.
Woolworths Group CEO Amanda Bardwell said the group's overall result reflected discipline across its businesses.
"Sales momentum together with strong productivity and cost discipline has delivered solid EBIT growth with an increased contribution from all trading segments," Bardwell said. "Looking ahead, while we expect the challenging economic environment to continue with household budgets remaining under pressure, our strategy to deliver low prices and the best range and convenience gives us confidence we can be first choice for customers while delivering for our team and shareholders in the year ahead."
