An Australian label which has received the 'thumbs-up' from opposition leader Tony Abbott, will mark new territory this month.
The Melbourne-based swimwear label, Funky Trunks, celebrates 10 years in production this November and will launch a Funky Trunks Underwear collection for men to celebrate the milestone.
The brand, whose swimwear has been worn by the likes of Abbott, now also retails internationally and has brought on board two ambassadors – Olympic Gold medal winning diver Matt Mitcham and Olympic Gold medal winning kayaker Murray Stewart.
Spurred by the success of Funky Trunks and its sister brand Funkita, which have experienced year-on-year growth since conception, Funky Trunks founder Duncan McLean said the launch of the underwear line was a natural next step.
“Releasing any kind of new clothing line is an ambitious undertaking in the current retail climate, but we have the support of our loyal customer base and a reputation for affordable, quality products. I’m confident the business can build on the strong growth achieved over the past decade with the launch of the Funky Trunks Underwear range,” he said.
“It is our aim to have men everywhere, stuck in the conformity of their professional lives, embrace the Funky Trunks spirit and look their best, even without their pants on.”
The debut range, set for release on November 19, will comprise styles of both trunks and briefs, featuring the brand's trademark bold patterns, with product to retail for $22.95 for briefs to $27.95 for trunks.
Product will be sold exclusively at www.funkytrunks.com.
Funky Trunks and Funkita swimwear ranges are part of the Way Funky Company umbrella, and currently sold in Australia, New Zealand, United States, France, Germany, the UK, and through distributors in Eastern Europe, Hong Kong, Korea and Singapore.
