National retailer Baby Bunting has appointed long-running retail leader Debra Singh as an independent non-executive director, effective today.

She will also chair the Remuneration Committee.

Singh has over 30 years of executive leadership in the retail sector, including in operations, business transformation and supply chain.

She was previously CEO of Fantastic Furniture and Group CEO of Household Goods at Greenlit Brands after holding several senior positions at Woolworths.

She has also served on the boards and various committees of several ASX-listed companies as a non-executive director.

Singh is currently Chair of G8 Education Limited and a non-executive director of Shaver Shop Group Limited.

“Debra’s appointment strengthens our board’s strategic oversight during a pivotal growth phase and is the outcome of a careful search process as part of our ongoing board renewal program,” Baby Bunting chair Stephen Roche said.

“Her deep experience in retail operations, change management and human resources will be highly complementary to the existing skillset on the Board, and we look forward to her contribution to Baby Bunting’s future success.”

Debra Singh welcomed the new role, saying this comes as the board implements a new strategy at pace. This includes aiming to take a larger share in the soft goods market, which includes fashion and footwear.

“I have been very impressed with the quality of the underlying business, strategy and capability of the management team,” Singh said. “Having recently visited the refurbished Maribyrnong store, there’s a lot to look forward to as the group rolls out the new ‘Store of the Future’ across the network along with other new formats.”
