Global travel retailer Avolta has reopened its newly refurbished duty-free precinct at Perth Airport T1.
Perth Duty Free now spans four stores across Terminals 1 and 3, with the latest refurbishment focused on both Departures and Arrivals in Terminal 1. The space features a series of new curated and digitally enhanced zones.
“The refurbishment of Perth Duty Free stands as one of the most ambitious transformations we’ve undertaken in the region,” Avolta APAC CEO and president Freda Cheung said.
“We’re proud to introduce a premium retail experience that celebrates the culture and unique spirit of Western Australia. In partnership with Perth Airport, we’re setting a new benchmark for duty-free shopping that meets the evolving expectations of today’s global traveller.
The new retail space will sell various accessories and beauty categories, including a new timepiece concept that offers brands such as Baume & Mercier, Hamilton, Longines, Oris, and Rado.
There is also a suncatcher space now available at both Departure and Arrival stores. In Departures, the global Suncatcher concept will include luxury eyewear collections from Dior, Celine and other lifestyle brands.
The duty-free stores at Perth Airport will also house a beauty space, Australia’s first Haute Parfumerie, a World of Whiskies space, local wine collections and a cocktail bar.
The store design itself was inspired by the Six Seasons of the Noongar people, the Traditional Owners of the land on which Perth Airport sits. Each season – Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba and Kambarang – is represented through six different sections in-store, through imagery, colour, light and materials.
According to Avolta, this major investment underscores the company’s commitment to the Australian market and its position as the sole duty-free operator in Western Australia.
Perth Airport chief commercial and aviation officer Kate Holsgrove said the transformation was a huge milestone for Perth Airport and the Western Australian tourism sector as a whole.
“The upgrade marks an exciting step forward in delivering exceptional brands, choice and value, and we have no doubt that the new offerings will be extremely popular with our passengers,” Holsgrove said.
In 2024, Perth Airport had a reported 16.9 million passengers passing through its terminals. More than half of this increase (56 per cent) came from additional international passengers. International passenger numbers grew 23 per cent year-on-year.
