Australian, female-founded swimwear label Sheila has just launched in the United States, expanding its website reach into the market.
Founder Clare Barrins launched the brand in 2023 online, with a focus on inclusive sizing and comfort.
"Swimwear has a tendency to make us feel insecure, to ride up in the wrong places, not fit quite right and makes us feel more like we'd want to sit on the sidelines than be amongst the action," Barrins said. "I want to change that. I created Sheila to encourage women to feel fearless, strong and sexy, like they can take on whatever the day throws at them."
The brand’s latest collection covers eleven styles and eight colourways with prices ranging from $45 to $320.
Ranges are designed from recycled nylon, made from discarded ocean waste like fishing nets, carpets, and plastics. Sheila reported that its fabrications are durable, thick, and fully-lined.
The brand abides by Global Recycling Standard and holds the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification.
After Barrins' own personal experience with melanoma over 10 years ago, it was also key for her to include UPF 50+ rated fabrics for essential sun protection.
