An Australian online start-up is set to redefine the concept of an atelier.
The Made Republic has launched a platform allowing customers to create garments in an online workshop.
At launch, a capsule collection offers more than 13,000 possible combinations from which to create a garment.
The SS16 collection includes silhouettes, such as a top, short and maxi dresses, kaftans, a jumpsuit and a playsuit.
Customers can choose from a range of silk fabrics in exclusive prints or solid colours, along with a selection of embellishments.
Creations are made to order and delivered in eight weeks.
Founder and director Sophia Papas said the site places customers at the centre of the shopping experience.
"The Made Republic is really the antidote to ‘off-the-rack’ and mass market offerings.
"For so long, the focus has been on telling the designer or retailer’s story.
"We provide a platform for the customer to be in the driver’s seat, making them the "hero'."
Prices start from $229–669 for silhouettes and $29–279 for embellishments.
