Australian retailers are preparing for the return of First Responders Day on June 29, an initiative which offers special deals for frontline workers.
Best & Less, Sussan, Decjuba, David Jones, Sportsgirl, The Athlete’s Foot, Nike and H&M are among retailers which have onboarded for the program.
The sales event will provide promotions ranging from 10 to 30 per cent off in-store items across retailers since 2020. To gain the discounts, first responders need to bring a photo ID that shows their work identity or shop in their work uniform.
Australian Retailers Association (ARA) CEO Paul Zahra said First Responders Day will remain a permanent fixture on Australia’s retail calendar.
“First Responders are grappling with ‘perma-crisis’ environment and we owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our first responders for making that possible,” Zahra said.
“It’s our modest way of showing our appreciation to those who sacrifice so much to keep us all safe and healthy.
“From healthcare providers to emergency services, they’re always there in times of crisis and sacrifice so much to maintain our way of life.”
Eligible first responders include medical and health workers, doctors, nurses and paramedics, as well as ambulance staff, police personnel, firefighters, defence and border force personnel, SES, lifesavers and quarantine workers.
Businesses can sign up for First Responders Day and register their offers via the ARA website.
