The Australian fashion industry has taken a stand.

"We will not be silent," is the catchcry for many in response to the horrific injustice surrounding George Floyd's murder.

Using their Instagram platforms - which have a combined follower count of over three million - Cotton On, The Iconic, Boohoo Australia and Princess Polly are just some of the Australian brands using their voice and influence to bring awareness and change to the Black Lives Matter movement.

"We are privileged to have a voice and a platform," Cotton On said in its post.

"Right now, we have a duty to use our influence and community to speak out about racism, hatred and injustice."

Taking it one step further, Princess Polly has made a donation to the Black Lives Matter organisation, while Boohoo has donated to the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP).

"To help aid the organisations at the front line of these issues, we have made a donation to NAACP to help in nonviolent efforts for change," Boohoo said.

"Princess Polly has made a donation to Black Lives Matter and encourages our amazing global community to support all organisations that stand up and fight for racial justice," Princess Polly posted.

Meanwhile, The Iconic is focusing its efforts on making changes in day-to-day life and is encouraging followers to do the same.

"We don't all have the answers, but we need to ask the questions.

"We believe in change - we have a responsibility as a company and individuals.

"It starts with understanding and empathy and it starts with each of us.

"Over the coming days we will shine some light on how each and every one of us can make a difference in day-to-day life to create a world that works together to strive for unity," The Iconic said.
