Having intellectual property issues in the lucrative Chinese market?

The Australian government has appointed David Bennett as Australia’s first IP Counsellor in China.

Head here for more tips on protecting your IP in this market.

Bennett is expected to take up the Beijing-based role by the end of this year.

He is a former IP Australia patent examiner with a strong technical and policy background in intellectual property.

Assistant Minister for Innovation Wyatt Roy said Bennett would help support Australian businesses seeking to export to China.

“Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull foreshadowed this new post recently when he visited China as part of its Australia Week celebrations,” Roy said.

“The Australian Government recognises that China is one of the largest and fastest growing markets for Australian businesses exporting overseas.

“The Counsellor will provide expert guidance on protecting and enforcing IP in China in order to benefit the IP owner and also give confidence to Chinese manufacturers and consumers about the value of innovative Australian products.”
